My teacher and friend Soichi wrote a poem saying that Porn causes Misery.  I have very many reasons why I don't agree that porn causes misery. I concede that anything to do with children is horrible and disgusting. That does cause serious pain and it erodes society by starting with a child and never giving them a chance at a normal life.  Is this what he meant? If he is addressing adult porn then I don't agree at all.

The porn industry makes movies that make men and women happy. They give many couples the opportunity to let all other aspects of life slip away so that they can concentrate on sex, and only sex, for however long they need. Many a pregnant woman has been helped into feeling sexy again with the addition of an outside stimulus that causes them to have visual foreplay without the pain that might accompany physical foreplay.

I'm sure there are people who become addicted to pornography. I have a very harsh opinion of this. These people refuse to see that addiction doesn't cause their suffering, they do. Porn doesn't cause their addiction, they do.

Additionally, the adult, heterosexual porn industry gives female performers lots of power. In a recent addition of Playboy many of these women got a chance to speak about the industry over which they are now taking control. Directing, producing, writing, marketing, distribution and acting are becoming woman-controlled. As far as male run establishments go, pornography is ahead of most in the private sector.

What many people outside of the porn industry don't see (or refuse to see) is that men are not the only ones who enjoy pornography. It used to be something for back rooms and stag parties. That is no longer the case. Women are going to female strip clubs with their husbands/boyfriends - or alone - and feeling that part of themselves that has been denied rushing past their socially-imposed consciousness. They are starting to realize that sex is FUN. It's not that big a deal. It's a good time. Everybody's Mom was somebody's Lover at one time! GASP!
