Monster Excursion/Leaving Explorama

We left at 6:45 after an early breakfast and walked for three hours.  It was mainly for exercise.  We trudged through mud above our ankles.  We stopped a few times for rest.  The third time we stopped we sat on a fallen tree.  From inside my pants, an Isula Ant bit me on the knee.  It hurt so much!

...We must have looked terrible dragging into camp three hours later!  On the other hand, we did get the chance to sit and listen to the morning sounds of the rainforest:  so peaceful and also so full of life.

Ceiba Tops Lodge

It [Leaving Explorama] was like leaving home for the first time.  It was hard for me to believe that I could form such a strong attachment to a place in only a few days, and yet there it was.  The ride to Ceiba was passed largely in silence...[Here at Ceiba] we felt completely out of place.  Things got worse in our room:  Windows (that don't open), a door with locks, a toilet!  Air-Conditioning!  It was culture shock, pure and simple.

...But the pool and slide are fun.  The sunset was beautiful.  The clouds were red-orange and grey and every once in awhile the lightning would flash through them.

...The tapir ran through the water line PVC pipe!
